Ron Zabler's nature photography has been described as idyllic, peaceful, tranquil, and wistful – his urban landscapes, as raw, powerful, thought-provoking and honest. The images reveal a deep passion for the art of photography, readily seen in his use of the subject, his strength of composition, his attention to the finest of details, his layering of textures and colors, and his capture of the subtle dance between light and shadow. From flowers that look ready to be picked right off the paper, to images that look like fine paintings, his photographs invite our sustained attention, no matter the number of repeated viewings. And his pushing the boundaries of the media is evident in B+W hand-painted negatives. In the simplest of terms, his work shows a singular artist masterfully documenting life and time through the prism of his unique vision.

"Photography has been a passion for the last 30 years, from the simple box camera and closet darkroom to a commercial lab and large format cameras, the same gamut of emotions still exists–anticipation, elation and frustration."

The photographs on this site are taken with an Agfa 5x7 field camera. The work is hand printed from original 5x7 color or B+W negatives. Type C prints on Kodak paper or Ilford B+W fiber paper. The hand-painted series are from B+W 35mm negatives. Printed on Kodak Type C color paper. Dye is applied by brush to the emulsion side of the negative, in most cases a single negative exists.

Each work is hand printed, signed and editioned to ensure its value. The combination of an artist's vision tied to the integrity of an individually produced photographic print is becoming a rarity in an age of electronically manipulated art forms. The traditionally produced print is a work of art that will stand the test of time.

Limited edition refers to how many total prints of a single image will be available and once that total number are all individually sold, the limited edition is "sold out" and will no longer be available.
